Autumn is upon us

We are a bit mushroom mad in our house too, the ones that grow in the woods now, not any other kind! we love hunting for them, identifying them and cooking up the edible ones. With Autumn now upon us, the woods are our favourite place to wander. Last weekend we went to Killarney National Park to hunt for them for reference. You aren’t allowed to pick anything there, only take photos. With all that inspiration I decided to have a go at creating some with wool. A mix of wet felted and needle felted mushroom have started emerging from my studio and I have to say I am rather pleased with them. It also gave me an excuse to random dye a whole pile of Wensleydale curly locks that I got from a local farmer and to card some of Leiko Felts gorgeous dyed merino wool from my stash into mushroom blends. Jackets and new hats

Seems like ages since I wrote a post! the weeks are flying by. Being a textile artist I seem to have quite a few projects on the go. Between minding my 4 yr old grandson, minding the garden and the usual daily jobs around the house there are lots of days when little else gets done. However, there are also super productive creative days when new ideas and long term shelved ideas come to fruition. I am super excited about a new fascinator base which is a really elegant shape for the face. Simple colours with silk fabrics, flocks and taffetas. Continue reading Jackets and new hats

Festival Time

We have been keeping ourselves busy at the Wildly Created studio and having some fun along the way. These two top hats are now completed.
Inspired by a children’s book that we all know and love, this hat is the perfect fit for a festival. Here in our part of the world we have an annual Mad Hatters festival where the towns people turn out in all manner of headgear. This adult sized top hat features soft denim fabric and fleece fur with floppy bunny ears and tail. The brim is decorated with all manner of vegetables, a watering can, wheelbarrow, a small felt mouse and a white picket fence. A robin sits atop one of the ears. Hats like these are timeless like the books. Continue reading Festival Time

Onwards into 2022

January is already well behind us and it was a month filled with creativity. So often we think we have not achieved much when in hindsight that is rarely the case. 9 new silk scarves are now on their websites. 5 silk collage textiles are completed. Between myself and Emma we have also created 8 new hats with 5 more in production. The last week then has been spent doing photo shoots, editing, optimization and website listings for all the new pieces. I have 4 more new hats in the design stage and 3 cuffs. So it has been a busy start to the year. Continue reading Onwards into 2022

Wildly Created is a go!!

After months of preparation and making products, our website wildlycreated.com is online. We are super thrilled and excited to see this venture become a reality. We chose the new moon of the 4th November as the day to publish and go live as we feel the energy of a new and building moon will give us and our site that same forward motion of growing and expanding energy. Pumpkins galore

house. I will miss the view of the sea, the freedom of rural living and the fresh produce from the land. Moving to the village will be a sea of change and make life easier on many levels. The sea is still only a short bike ride away and the native woods close by, nature is so important for me to refocus and reground. Continue reading Pumpkins galore
