Mermaids Purse
Earlier this year while wandering the beaches nearby, I came across an unusually large number of Mermaids Purses in various colours and shapes, some I had never seen before. These curious flotsam that wash up on the tide are the egg cases of sharks, ray, dogfish and other similar sea beings and yet they conjure up something more mystical, magical and altogether more charming. Pumpkins galore
house. I will miss the view of the sea, the freedom of rural living and the fresh produce from the land. Moving to the village will be a sea of change and make life easier on many levels. A magical time.
Today is one of those truly magical times after a night of thunder and heavy rain, when the fog is thick, the air is humid and the fairy folk are only just beyond our scope of vision. My 2 year old grandson accompanied me on my morning wander with my camera and said “hello” to many of the little people. It is rare to see so many dew dropped bedecked spider webs as I did today, I was completely in awe of the spectacle. Even the tallest pines were strewn from bottom to top. Trees and silk, my two loves
Bringing an idea from the initial thought, to sketch to fruition takes its own sweet time. It has to be allowed to be born when the elements are ready to come together. My current creation is a fantastical hat made from sari silk ribbons, silk, cotton, felt and silk wools. Beads will be added too. Musings.
Yesterday evening I spent a few hours out wandering with my thoughts and my camera. I am blessed to have a magical place close by to immerse myself in, to watch the seasons change, the cycles of life turn and the wonder of natures beauty explode in a riot of colours and aromas.
I love getting up close to the flora and fauna and trying to capture some of the essence, to wonder and sometimes I am inspired to write a few words. Continue reading Musings.
