Mixed Media Textiles
This year I took part in the artists walking trail as part of the annual Kinsale Arts Weekend. Each artist is allocated a shop window in the town and has the opportunity to showcase and possibly sell their work. I decided to exhibit 10 pieces of my newest mixed media textile art and super delighted one of them sold. Four of them are now exhibited in the Boathouse Gallery in Kinsale along with my soft pastel of the “Tall Fish”.
For these pieces I used recycled silk sari ribbons, hand dyed merino wool, hand dyed silks, banana wool, hand dyed silk wool, beads, Moroccan buttons, copper wire, foraged treasures, metal charms and feathers. A small amount of machine stitching is done to anchor the base layer and the remainder is hand stitched. They are all framed in a deep set limed wood frame under glass.

Elemental Colours represents the elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water in the four squares with Metal represented in the charms used.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you enjoyed my new works! Comments as always below please.
