In 2020 I became inspired to create the textile version of my Elemental Colours Range and am very excited to showcase them here. They depict the Ocean, Earth and Fire. Inspiration comes from the places I visit, landscapes, wildflowers and seascapes. I use ready dyed and my own hand dyed and painted silk fabrics, fibres and wool, silk roving and lace as well as recycled sari silks for my textile wall art pieces. I collect and forage plants, leaves, seedheads, berries, seaweeds, mushrooms and anything I feel will give me an interesting colour or print and use these on silk, linen and wool. Embellishments of beads, charms, silk wool, sabra threads, feathers, sequins, recycled jewellery, leather, tulle and gilt threads may be applied. Some have added dimension using polyester stuffing and many have textured additions. These are all one of a kind pieces of tactile art with a touch of luxury. I adore the organic feel of them, the depth and light. Colours reflect those found in nature. The feelings they evoke are personal to the viewer, they do remind us of something deep in our souls, something special and beautiful, made with love. These continue to evolve and become more complex.
